Single Stream Recycling Comes to Fairmount
Beginning in May, 2008, Fairmount residents can now combine all recyclables in one container--no longer is it necessary to separate cans, bottles, paper, and cardboard. Additionally, recyclable plastic with the #1 or #2 symbol can be recycled. Currently recyclables are picked up every other week on garbage collection day, but the city plans to implement weekly pick-up of recyclables soon. For more information, visit:
Thank You, Fairmount Recycles
Now that the city is collecting plastic bottles, Fairmount Recycles (first Saturday of the month behind the North Star bar) will no longer collect them. Let's all give a great big thank you to the folks at Fairmount Recycles who picked up the slack for the city during the many years that the city wasn't accepting any plastic recyclables. Fairmount Recycles has surely made a HUGE difference in the amount of Fairmount plastic that went to landfills. THANK YOU!
